Wordsworth re-written by homeless Britain
Refuge from the Ravens — Wordsworth rewritten by homeless Britain
Lyrical Ballads by Wordsworth and Coleridge in 1798 was a literary revolution that sparked Romanticism — poems in everyday language embedded in nature, featuring stories of poor people walking the roads of a country in turmoil. Today, 200 years later, homelessness and social inequality are still with us and on the rise, the gap between rich and poor is huge and many are tumbling into the void.
In partnership with Wordsworth Grasmere, Refuge from the Ravens invites people with lived experience of homelessness to meet with Wordsworth across time and write a 21st Century response. “We are human too.” (Dominic, project participant)
